David Belton is an award-winning filmmaker with more than twenty-five years experience in making documentaries and drama-documentary in the UK, the USA and around the world.
David has made hour and feature-length films and series for Netflix, Amazon Prime Originals, PBS, BBC and Channel 4.
Before moving into documentary filmmaking, David began his career at BBC2’s Newsnight. His experiences covering the 1994 Rwandan genocide prompted him to co-write the story and produce the Bafta-nominated feature film, “Shooting Dogs” (US: “Beyond the Gates) starring Sir John Hurt and Hugh Dancy. His critically-acclaimed book on the genocide, “When the Hills Ask for your Blood”, was published in 2014 by Doubleday and Black Swan.
David’s films are known and critically acclaimed for their storytelling, artistry and emotional intelligence.
